GARLAND, Texas -

A 22-year-old motorcyclist has died after striking the back of a vehicle while fleeing from police in the Dallas suburb of Garland.

Garland police say they attempted to pull the man over after he was observed travelling at a speed of more than 100 mph on an interstate Tuesday evening, but the man fled.

Police say as the motorcyclist lost control as he approached an intersection, striking the back of a Cadillac. The rider was ejected and the motorcycle came to rest on the sidewalk. A woman waiting for a bus sustained a minor injury when she was struck by the motorcycle, but refused to go to the hospital.

The motorcyclist's name has not been released.

Police will conduct a review of the chase to ensure it was within guidelines.
