A hotel that will be built in downtown Houston will have a lazy river on the roof.

Houston City Council approved a plan Wednesday to move forward with a plan to build at hotel that will be connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Construction on the 1,000-room Marriott Marquis will begin in 2014.

The hotel will have a rooftop lazy river, which is a water ride, in the shape of the state of Texas.

The hotel will create about 700 permanent jobs and more than 1,800 construction jobs.
