Neighbors warned about suspicious car after burglaries
People who live in a west Houston neighborhood are being told to look out for a suspicious vehicle after a rash of break-ins.
A 1999 tan Ford Taurus has been seen in the Briargrove Park neighborhood where three homes were broken into, according to Precinct 5 deputy constables.
Homes on Candlewood, Briar Hill and Briarpark were all burglarized between January 19 - 23. All burglaries happened during the day.
"Well, yes, it's scary because I was home probably 30 minutes before he broke-in, so I almost walked in on him," said one neighbor, who didn't want his identity revealed.
He and his wife had their back window busted out. The burglar used a rock, climbed through the broken window, and then ransacked their master bedroom. The only thing stolen was jewelry.
"I looked down the hallway and I saw all the drawers pulled out of the dressers and I saw the window busted out and I saw clothes all over the floor. I realized we had been burglarized," he said.
Precinct 5 Constable's Office Captain Mike Coleman said it could be a group of burglars working together or it could be one person acting alone.
"They're probably just randomly picking them, knocking on the front door, no one is coming to the front door so they go around to the back and break into the house," said Coleman.
Coleman said residents need to look out for one another and call the police if they see anything suspicious.
"Anything suspicious, give us a call. If you see anybody riding around or walking around. A vehicle in a driveway that doesn't belong, call us," said Coleman.
