Neighborhood has second sex attack this month
Postal worker is latest victim
For the second time this month, police responded to a sexually based attack in the 800 block of Yorkshire Avenue in Pasadena. The most recent attack involved a postal worker being fondled around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
"They're getting brave when they're doing it during the day," said a resident who did not want to be identified. "That was in the afternoon when he tried to get her."
Police said the postal worker, who was on duty, noticed a man following her for 10 minutes before approaching her truck and asking for 50 cents. Detectives said when the woman reached into her purse the man began fondling her breasts and genitals. Police said the postal worker punched the man several times before he ran off.
"There's something around here that they want, I don't know. It scares me, It really does," the neighbor said.
This attack follows an Oct. 2 attack on a 10-year-old girl. Police said during that incident, a man grabbed the little girl, threw her to the ground and tried to sexually assault the child. Police said the little girl was also able to fight off her attacker.
"How dare him try to do this to anybody's child, let alone my child," the child's mother said during an interview with Local 2 earlier this month.
Detectives said they do not believe the attacks are connected because different descriptions were given in each attack.
The man who attacked the postal worker was described as an Hispanic male between 18 and 22 years old, with black "buzzed" hair and wearing a red short sleeve Aeropostale T-Shirt with blue "skinny" jeans.
The Oct. 2 attacker was described as a man standing about 5 feet, 7-inches tall, weighing between 150 and 175 pounds, wearing a black nylon stocking over his head, a black long sleeve shirt, grey work gloves, black shorts and black sandals.
