Neighborhood clubhouse catches fire
Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a clubhouse fire in southwest Houston.
The fire broke out at the Gessport neighborhood clubhouse in the 12400 block of South Gessner near West Airport around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
Fire crews worked hard to battle the blaze. The building's front wall collapsed before they were able to put the fire out.
Quincy Floyd moved to the neighborhood a year and a half ago and he said has never seen anything like this.
"It's surprising, because it's always quiet over here," said Floyd. "I don't see how it could have caught fire."
The K-9 unit was called to the scene twice to sniff for any clues to determine the cause of the fire.
A firefighter driving to the scene was treated for chest pains unrelated to fighting the fire. He is doing just fine.
