A high school student and his mother have been arrested in connection with a teenager's disappearance.

Pearland police said a 13-year-old girl's relatives reported her missing on Wednesday.

Detectives said they discovered that the girl had been befriended by a 16-year-old Jersey Village High School student on Facebook.

The student and his mother, Dorothy Montenegro, 37, drove to Pearland on Tuesday, picked the girl up from school and took her to their home in Crosby, police said.

Pearland police coordinated with Harris County sheriff's deputies to arrest the student and Montenegro and recover the girl.

Montenegro and her son were charged with class-B misdemeanor enticing a child.

Montenegro was booked into the Pearland Jail with bond set at $1,500. If convicted, she faces up to 180 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,000.
