Meteor lights up Texas sky
A meteor lit up the Texas sky Wednesday night, leaving many people wondering if they just spotted a UFO.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the light in the sky was only a meteor.
The meteor was caught on camera during a traffic stop near Belton, Texas. It was spotted as far north as Stillwater, Okla., and as far south as Houston.
Daniel Garcia saw it.
"Pretty much was like a long streak of light. White light in the sky. Very overcast and just trying to go get some gas. Just saw something real flashy. It turned colors and all of a sudden, it just went back to white and just burned out."
"Individual meteors like that are not predictable. Sometimes something comes in very fast and producers a very bright meteor, and it's very spectacular to look at," said James Wooten of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. "That was very unusual to see something like that just come out of nowhere."
