Two people were arrested after a marijuana grow operation was found inside a Pearland home.
Pearland police said they and the Brazoria County Narcotics Task Force got a warrant and searched a home in the 2600 block of Avalon Cove Lane in the Avalon Terrace subdivision on Wednesday.
Detectives said they found 244 marijuana plants and 32 pounds of hydroponic marijuana inside the home. The plants have a street value of $394,548 and the hydroponic marijuana has a street value of $128,000, investigators said.
A whole-home air filtration system was installed inside the home to mask the odor of marijuana and there was industrial-grade lighting in rooms throughout the house, police said.
The residents bypassed the electricity meter to avoid the utility company from discovering that there was unusually high electricity consumption at the home, investigators said.
Thuy Nguyen, 34, and Huu Dinh, 48, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and criminal mischief – diverting power supply. They were booked into the Brazoria County Jail with bond set at $45,000. Immigration and Customs Enforcement places a detainer on Dinh, police said.
