A man was shot to death at a game room/restaurant in northwest Harris County on Friday, investigators said.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said the shooting happened at Cafe Chieu Tim around 3 p.m. in the 8200 block of Antoine and West Gulf Bank.
"Two Asian males entered the business," said Sgt. Spurgeon. "They sat around there for a little while like they were going to rob the place."
Detectives said the two men ordered everyone to the ground and fired shots at 47-year-old Tuan Tu, the manager of the cafe.
Tu fired back, firing at least one shot before he died, investigators said.
"The owner displayed his weapon, and a shootout ensued between the owner and the two suspects," said Spurgeon.
The men fled the scene into a neighborhood behind the business and entered a brown colored Toyota Camry with faded tinted windows. Officials said the vehicle was parked on Enchanted Forest Drive directly behind the center.
Tu's wife, Van Nguyen, said she got a phone call to come to the restaurant, where she was told her husband had been killed.
"Your husband died. You can come right away," said Nguyen. "I don't know what happened."
No one else was reported hurt. Next door to the cafe is a student driving school.
"I've got a lot of bullet holes on one side of the wall," said Debbie Trevotich, owner of Safety First Driving School. "They're on the side of the wall where the shooting was taking place. I don't want it to be a place where the kids will be afraid."
Detectives describe the first man as about 5-foot 7-inches to 5-foot 8-inches tall, with a thin build and mustache. He wore a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with tan pants. The second man is 5-foot 5-inches to 5-foot 6-inches, with a medium build, bald or close cropped hair, and wore a baseball hat and sunglasses. He also had a thick padded ski jacket on, said detectives.
The two men also speak with a distinctive Northern Vietnamese accent, said detectives.
