Man with possible rifle spotted near school
Parents of Creekwood Middle School students concerned
Police are investigating a gun scare near a Kingwood middle school.
Houston police said they got a call about a man with a gun near Creekwood Middle School, 3603 West Lake Houston Parkway, about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators said a student walking home from school told them a man pointed a rifle at him and fired a shot. The student ran back to school and told the principal, police said.
School officials weren't sure, at first, if a gun was in fact real or if it was a toy. They investigated it and, based on a photo someone snapped of the person with the gun, they believe it was a gun that shoots plastic pellets.
There's was an obvious police presence at at the school on Wednesday, as a precaution.
Parents said it doesn't matter if was a real rifle or just shoots pellets, it's scary either way.
"Of course it's a big concern so I'm glad the school has beefed up things," said Sharon O'Donnell, a concerned family member.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
