CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -

A man who robbed the same South Texas bank twice in 2012 and hid some of the loot in his boots has pleaded guilty and faces up to 20 years in prison.

A federal judge in Corpus Christi on Tuesday accepted the bank robbery plea from 52-year-old Nicholas Vernon Tolmie.

Investigators say Tolmie held up Texas Champion Bank in Corpus Christi last July 11 and Nov. 19. Police say the robber slipped threatening notes to tellers before fleeing with cash.

Tolmie was captured shortly after the second heist when police located him in a restaurant. The Corpus Christi man had ditched the clothes he wore in the holdup and hid some of the stolen money in his boots.

Tolmie remains in custody pending sentencing in May.
