Man shot to death in townhouse parking lot
Victim spoke to police just before he died.
A man was shot to death in front of a northeast Houston townhouse Thursday.
Police said the man was shot at least twice in the torso in the parking lot of the complex on Goodson Drive and Airline Drive around 12 a.m. When emergency crews arrived, they found the victim covered in blood, barely alive.
"The responding officer found a male who was shot numerous times. He was laying on the concrete. He was transported to Ben Taub, where he died from his injuries. We are following up on leads," said Sgt. Colin Howard with HPD Homicide.
Before he died, the 34-year-old victim gave police some information about the shooter. Detectives said that information is not being released yet.
Police said they have not found the gunman's weapon. Several shell casings and bullet fragments were found where the victim was discovered.
Neighbors said they heard the gunshots but didn't see the shooting. It's unclear if the victim lived at the complex or why he was there.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
