HOUSTON -

A Montgomery County man said he thought he was going to die in a Lowe's parking lot after being shot at by a couple in a pickup truck.

According to Houston police, the incident happened on Monday just before 2 p.m. at the Lowe's located at 22600 Highway 59 North in Kingwood.

"He was like, 'Hey! I got a $50 Lowe's card I'll sell you for $20 cause we need gas and cigarettes. We're about to run out of gas,'" said Jerry, who asked that his last name not be used.

Jerry said he didn't want the gift card but was about to give the couple a few bucks for gas.

"I looked down to reach in my pocket, when I looked up I got a 44 sticking in my face," he said. "As soon as I seen that I ducked down and he just tried to shoot me - boom."

The .44 caliber bullet grazed Jerry's back and left a 2 inch scratch. It also hit the side of his truck and left a sizable dent.

Jerry believes the couple wanted to kill him then rob him.

"There's no doubt in my mind he was trying to kill me," Jerry said.

He said the couple chased him until he was able to make a run for it and get safely inside the store.

Houston Police are now investigating and Jerry wants other shoppers to be on the lookout for the suspects. He told KPRC Local 2 they were in a dark blue Z71 Chevy pick-up truck. The man in the driver's seat was white and almost bald with a small amount of dark hair.

"The girl looked Hispanic with dark hair and she had a scar or some sort of blemish on the side of her lip," said Jerry.

He's hopeful the store's surveillance cameras captured the incident and the couple's license plate number.

Lowe's told KPRC Local 2 they had no comment.
