Man loses leg in multi-vehicle crash in northwest Harris County
A multi-car crash in northwest Harris County injured three people, including a man whose leg was severed.
Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, a grey Buick ran out of gas and broke down in the left lane of Spears Road near T.C. Jester Boulevard. Another driver in a red Toyota Tundra stopped to help.
According to reports, the Tundra driver was putting gas in the Buick when a Dodge Charger crashed into the back of the Tundra, sending it into the back of the Buick. A man and a woman were inside the Buick at the time of the crash. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
A third man was standing between the Buick and the Tundra. He was pinned between the Buick and the truck, severing one of his legs and crushing the other. Emergency crews transported him by Life Flight to the hospital in critical condition.
The man who stopped to help with the stranded Buick was thrown to the ground but sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the Charger also sustained minor injuries.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said alcohol did not play a role in the crash; however, the driver of the Charger was ticketed for causing the accident.
None of the victims' names have been released.
