Jail for Houston man for sexting teen after funeral

HOUSTON -

A Houston man has begun serving jail time for sending sexual text messages to a 15-year-old girl he met at a funeral, Local 2 Investigates reported Thursday.

The girl became scared when the texting turned aggressive and her mother called police.

Alex Raymond Sanchez, who was 22 years old at the time, was arrested in January on a felony count of online solicitation of a minor.

After posting bail on that charge, he was arrested in July when he was caught during a sex act in public.

He pleaded guilty to both charges and is serving a 10-day sentence in the Harris County Jail.

Sheriff's deputies said he met the teenage girl at her brother's funeral and then got her phone number.

Shortly after that, she told her mother that the sexual texting started.

In one message, according to court records, he mentioned his sexual organ and asked, "Do you want it?"

In another, he typed about a scenario involving his "Tongue all over you."

Since he used an electronic device to send the messages, he was arrested and a grand jury indicted him on the felony online solicitation charge.

While out of jail on bail, he was arrested during a sex act with another person in public.

In his next court appearance, he pleaded guilty to the felony charge.

He was given deferred adjudication probation, meaning the felony will not show up as a conviction if he successful.

Harris County prosecutors told Local 2 Investigates he then pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure.

Since he pleaded guilty to the new crime after the first guilty plea, his probation cannot be revoked despite the new sex crime.

He will be required to register as a sex offender, but only during his five years on probation.

When asked why a plea bargain would be allowed for a man who has offended again, a spokeswoman at the Harris County District Attorney's office said the new arrest did factor in when he was sentenced to 10 days in jail on the felony.
