NEDERLAND, Texas (AP) — A 26-year-old Southeast Texas man has been indicted for capital murder in the April death of his mother, who was shot multiple times.
The Beaumont Enterprise reports Joseph Garrett Arredondo of Nederland was indicted Thursday. He was being held in Jefferson County jail Friday morning on $2 million bond. A jail official did not have attorney information for him.
According to the indictment, Joseph Arredondo kicked in a door to 55-year-old Hollie Ann Arredondo's Nederland apartment and shot her multiple times with a .40-caliber handgun.
She was dead when officers arrived. Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush said responding officers found Joseph Arredondo in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
Court records show Joseph Arredondo has had multiple convictions for violent offenses.
Nederland is located just southeast of Beaumont.
