Man hit, killed while walking on feeder road

BROOKSHIRE, Texas -

A car struck and killed a man who was walking along a freeway feeder road near Brookshire.

The accident happened at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.  According to reports, Scott Ayres, 49, was walking in the middle of the Interstate 10 feeder at mile marker 729 when a 2007 Ford Explorer hit him.

Judge Ted Krenek pronounced Ayres deceased at 8:41 p.m.

Troopers notified next of kin and said Ayres' body was taken to Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire.

Trooper Christopher Kindell is investigating the accident.
