A man was hit and killed by a sport utility vehicle in the Heights Saturday.

Investigators said Luis Alberto Dorantes, 23, had just come out of a bar at 1:40 a.m. when he was hit by a SUV on Washington Avenue near Patterson. He died at the scene.

The driver fled, but was arrested a few blocks away, investigators said.

Officials said Rebecca Bowman, 19, was driving the truck. She faces intoxication manslaughter charges as well as underaged drinking.

An 18-year-old friend, Danielle Reichle, was also in the SUV and may be charged as an accessory and for also being intoxicated, sources told KPRC Local 2.
