A North Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2011 fatal shooting of a man who was in a relationship with his mother.

Prosecutors say the victim's daughter was also shot — leaving her paralyzed from the neck down — in the attack at their Plano home.

The Dallas Morning News reports 22-year-old Edgar Alberto Romo of Plano was convicted of murder and aggravated assault. A judge on Wednesday decided the life prison terms must be served concurrently.

Prosecutors say Romo's motive was unclear when he shot 27-year-old Gabriela Torres in the head and then fatally shot 50-year-old Ismael Torres. Further details about the mother's involvement with Ismael Torres weren't immediately available.

Romo will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
