MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -

The father of a missing Sam Houston State University student has doubled the reward for information about his son.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Thomas "TJ" Murray, 24, was last seen at Rookies Sports Bar on Sawdust Road shortly after midnight on Oct. 19. He spoke with his father at 12:30 a.m. that morning to say he would not be driving home.

Murray's father said his son got separated from his friend and was outside the bar, but could not get back inside.

"There was some issue. He wasn't allowed back in the bar. We're trying to figure that out," Thomas Murray, Sr. said.

No one has heard from Murray Jr. since. Murray's cell phone was found in a ditch near the sports bar and his pickup truck was left in the parking lot.

The student's father said he is now offering $20,000 for information that helps find his missing son.

Murray is a student at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

He is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds with blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt with white lettering and shorts.

The Sheriff's Office said although there is no indication of foul play, it is unusual for Murray to not contact his family members.

Anyone with information is asked to call 936-760-5876 or 936-760-5800.
