Man dies in crash after police chase

A man died in a crash after leading police on a high speed chase in southwest Houston on Saturday.

The crash happened on Greenbriar Street and La Concha Lane at around 2 a.m.

Officers said they picked up a LoJack signal near Gessner Drive and began monitoring the vehicle. They said they didn't attempt a traffic stop until the driver noticed patrol units following him.

Police said he took off on South Greenbrier Street. When he tried to make a U-turn, the car hit a median and flipped several times.

The suspect was thrown from the vehicle and killed. His name was not released.
