A man died after was beaten and accidentally run over by a car in northeast Houston, police said.
Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, police said they received reports of that a 51-year-old man was dead on Elysian Street near Harrington Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a body in the middle of the street.
Detectives said witnesses reported seeing someone beat the victim, possibly with a baseball bat. When he tried to run away, he fell down in the road.
Police said a car headed down Elysian accidentally ran over the man. The driver of the car stopped, called 911, and waited for police to arrive, officials said.
Homicide detectives said they are unsure whether the victim was dead before the car ran over him.
His name has not been released.
