Man crashes sports car into southwest Houston tree

A driver lost control of his sports car and crashed into a tree in southwest Houston.
Houston police said a man driving an Audi R8 sports car was speeding on Memorial Drive, lost control near Detering Street and hit a tree about 3 a.m. on Friday.
Police said the crash totaled the car.
Emergency crews took the driver to the hospital in stable condition. His name has not been released.
A base model of the Audi R8 starts at $114,200.
