HOUSTON -

A thief has broken into several homes in the Montrose area, and he's getting in through the homeowners' doggie doors.

One resident set up a camera that captured images of the man breaking into her home on Wednesday.

The images show the man spending about 10 minutes casing the home from the back yard before he decided to crawl into it house through the doggie door.

The homeowner said her iPad, a camera and some jewelry were stolen.

Neighbors said the break-in was similar to others in the area.

"He goes into houses, typically through the doggie door," said Viiula Torgerson, who runs a neighborhood blog called "The Heights Life." "He steals small things that he can carry, and they believe there's an accomplice waiting in a car."

Torgerson posted photos of Wednesday's break-in to alert others.

"People want to share this information," she said. "We want to catch these guys so we all feel secure in our homes and our neighborhood. We're just very vigilant."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
