For the first time since he snapped the photos, the man behind the pictures of a deteriorated Astrodome shared his thoughts on the current state of the Houston landmark.
Russel Hancock's photos of the Astrodome gave the city a surprising look inside the building. The photos revealed just how run down the building had become. Once inside, Hancock said he couldn't believe his eyes.
"When I first walked in, the first thing I saw was the crumpled-up Astro truck and trash everywhere. And I was the only one there and couldn't believe I was the only one there. It was just in bad shape," Hancock said.
County commissioners have taken up several plans to figure out what to do with the Dome, which once hosted sporting and entertainment events. Some options include turning it into a multi-purpose center or tearing it down all together.
Officials said voters will eventually be asked to make the final decision.
