SUGAR LAND, Texas -

A man was beaten and robbed in a restroom at a popular mall.

Sugar Land police said the attack happened in a restroom near Designer's Perfumes & More at First Colony Mall about 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Detectives said the 47-year-old victim, who owns the perfume store, was beaten unconscious in the restroom. Relatives said he was attacked as he washed his hands. A mall employee found the victim and called 911.

The man was taken to Methodist Hospital. Police initially said he had been released, but relatives said he is still hospitalized.

The attacker stole the man's cellphone, police said.

Surveillance video showed the victim being followed into the restroom. The attacker was seen leaving the restroom a short time later and exiting the mall through a service door.

The attacker was described as black, 30 to 35 years old and 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 3 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black button-up polo shirt, black pants and black shoes. He got away in a two-tone, four-door car.
