Man arrested in connection with rape in January
Royce Thompson charged with aggravated sexual assault
A man was arrested Thursday, months after he was suspected of raping a woman.
This man grabbed his victim right off the street in southeast Houston, and was even caught on camera for part of the attack.
"The poor lady. My heart goes out to her. She was just walking down the street minding her own business, and something like this could happen is terrifying," resident Priscilla Gwen said.
The attack happened back in January right before dinnertime.
Detectives said the 27-year-old victim woman was walking along Duane Street and heading toward a friend's house.
According to court documents, the woman was approached by a man driving a white tire truck.
Investigators said the man pulled out a gun, put it to her head, then forced her to get in before he started driving south.
Police said the man drove her to a dead-end where he ordered her out of the truck, choked her and raped her for hours.
"It just gives you the chills," Gwen said.
Royce Thompson, 35, was arrested at a tire company in Pasadena on Thursday. He's been charged with aggravated sexual assault.
According to investigators, surveillance video from a nearby construction site was their key clue.
Police said cameras caught parts of the assault, and images of his company take-home truck driving away from the scene the day of the attack.
Thompson was still be interrogated by police on Friday and has not been taken to the county jail. When he gets there, he will be held on a $30,000 bond.
