A Webster man accused of soliciting sex from a woman posing as an underage girl on Facebook has been arrested.
It was early September when a League City woman pretending to be a 15-year-old girl "friended" Daniel Riekstins, 26, on Facebook. A
According to court documents, he messaged her, stating, "I like younger women."
She responded, according to court documents, "Would you have sex with a 15-year-old?"
According to court documents, Riekstins wrote "Yeah, you call me."
Investigators said the two exchanged sexually-explicit messages and that Riekstins asked to meet the girl he thought was 15 so they could have sex.
Police said the 36-year-old woman posing as the minor never met him and contacted the authorities instead.
"He didn't deny the specific comments and messages I was showing him regarding this victim. He didn't deny those comments being made," Webster police Detective David Nettles said.
Police said the woman decided to play detective and set this whole thing up after an acquaintance told her Riekstins had possibly been soliciting underage girls for sex on Facebook.
Police, who poured through at least 2,000 of Riekstins' Facebook pages, said he attempted to communicate with numerous other underage girls.
Riekstins was arrested at his parents' apartment Tuesday morning. He has been charged with online solicitation of a minor.
His relatives said they were stunned.
"He's innocent. He did not do this. He's innocent and he will get his judgment day" Riekstins' aunt said.
Webster police have not identified any other victims but believe there may be more. They encouraged anyone with information to come forward and contact them at 281-332-2426.
