ARCOLA, Texas -

A man has been accused of pretending to be a police officer.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said Charles Cole, 36, was at a rodeo in an arena in the 6500 block of F.M. 521 in the Arcola area when a fight broke out on Sunday.

A security guard tried to break up the fight, but Cole, who was dressed in what appeared to be a police officer's uniform, began to wrestle with the security guard, investigators said.

Detectives said Cole announced that he was a police officer.

The guard said Cole grabbed his wrist and held his arm behind his back, officials said. The guard also told investigators that Cole tried to take his gun out of its holster, but he did not get it.

Cole was arrested at his home in Kendleton on Friday. He has been charged with impersonating a police officer, a third-degree felony.
