BAYTOWN, Texas -

Police in Baytown responding to a shooting said they found a man posing as a law enforcement officer.

Police said they were responding to a call about shots fired at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Northwood on Monday.

Detectives said they found Calvin Jackson there. He was wearing a T-shirt with the word "sheriff" on it, a badge and he carried a pair of handcuffs, officials said.

Investigators said Jackson told them he was a courtesy officer at the complex, but they soon found out he isn't a licensed Texas peace officer.

"There was a lot of residents saying they thought he was an undercover police officer. I'm glad they caught him," said Clara Allnutt, who lives at the apartments.

Jackson was arrested and charged with false identification as a peace officer, which is a class-B misdemeanor.

Police said Jackson was also wanted on a probation violation out of Arkansas and in connection with a theft case in Harris County.
