Man accused of killing child's dog
A man has been accused of intentionally killing a small dog.
Jose Luis Quintero, 42, has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.
Houston police said Quintero walked into his 5-year-old daughter's bedroom about 5 a.m. on Sunday and took her Chihuahua.
Detectives said Quintero took the dog into a bathroom and abused it. His daughter didn't know if her dog was OK, so she and her mother went a friend's house to call police.
When the mother and daughter returned home, they discovered that Quintero had buried the dog in their front yard.
Investigators said Quintero admitted to grabbing and throwing the dog, but he didn't mean to kill it.
Quintero is being held in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
