A man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop, and police said his young child was in the car.
Santa Fe police said they stopped Tommie McNeal, 22, on suspicion of failing to drive in a single marked lane.
Detectives said that the officer who stopped McNeal could smell marijuana coming from the car.
McNeal was placed under arrest after officers said they discovered that McNeal did not have a valid driver's license.
Backup officers went to the scene and searched the vehicle. Police said they found marijuana in plain view and they also found 1.2 grams of crack cocaine.
Investigators said McNeal's 4-year-old son and girlfriend were in the car at the time of his arrest. They were both released.
McNeal has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony endangering a child. He is being held in jail with bond set at $60,000.
