Car spotted by officer in unmarked HPD unit

Southwest Freeway Chase
HOUSTON -

A man is in custody after a short chase off the Southwest Freeway.

An unmarked Houston police unit started following a car after officers said it came up stolen around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

The officer waited for a marked patrol car to assist with the traffic stop.

Investigators said when the officers pulled the car over in a hotel off the Southwest Freeway and Weslayan, the driver jumped out and ran away.

The man was captured and arrested after short foot chase. His name has not been released.
