Man accused of attacking deputies
Deputies: Man set car on fire during arrest
After fighting with deputies during his arrest, a man attacked jail officers who were taking him back to his cell, said Liberty County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Deputies said they arrested Michael Glenn, Jr., on Sunday after he crashed his car into a building.
Deputies attempted to pull Glenn from the car, but he fought back and set fire to the vehicle, said investigators.
Glenn began struggling with the deputies before a deputy pepper-sprayed him to no avail, officials said. Other people in the area noticed the struggle and aided deputies in gaining control of Glenn, said deputies.
Two LCSO deputies suffered minor injuries during the arrest.
Glenn was then taken to the Liberty County jail, where deputies said he allowed a phone call. When deputies told Glenn to end the phone call, he became aggressive until a jail supervisor with pepper spray and other deputies approached, said deputies.
While walking back to his cell, Glenn attacked the supervisor, took the pepper spray and used it against the other deputies, said deputies.
A struggle ensued and eventually deputies returned Glenn to his cell, said investigators.
Several jail employees suffered minor injuries.
Glenn faces several charges, including disarming a public servant and assault on a public servant.
Glenn is in jail with no bond.
Deputies said he has a lengthy criminal history, including prior arrests for burglary, aggravated assault, theft and evading.
