HOUSTON -

After getting input from the public, METRO has decided to keep three routes originally proposed for elimination.

Three bus routes that were originally proposed to be eliminated will continue.

Those routes are 30 Clinton, 48 Navigation and 49 Chimney Rock.

The METRO Board of Directors made the decision Thursday. METRO said it listened to pleas from riders.

"The new METRO is very serious about listening to the community in order to provide first-class transit," METRO Chairman Gilbert Garcia said. "This process is a perfect example of that spirit."

The public input came at three recent community workshops.

The board did decide to eliminate some low-performing routes, starting Feb. 26:

  • 35 Fairview
  • 39 Parker Road
  • 59 Aldine Mail Crosstown
  • 60 Hardy
  • 286 West Little York/Uptown-Greenway
  • 313 Allen Parkway
