HOUSTON -

A METRO bus struck a pedestrian in Midtown on Thursday night.

At 11:45 p.m., police said a METRO bus was turning from Main Street onto Wheeler Avenue headed westbound when a man stepped off the curb and walked in front of the bus.

According to witnesses, the driver could not stop the bus in time to avoid hitting the man.

The male pedestrian was transported to Ben Taub in stable condition.

No other people were injured in the accident.

The man's name was not released.
