MCSO: Boy nearly kidnapped at bus stop
Two men tried to kidnap an 11-year-old boy from a bus stop and one of them hit him, investigators said.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said two men tried to lure the fifth-grader into their car at the intersection of Shaw Circle and Country West Drive in the Grangerland area shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.
"All I know is they were telling him to get in the car," said Emilee Bankhead, who told Local 2 the 11-year-old is her nephew. "He said 'no.'"
Bankhead said the men drove up to the boy and one of the men punched him in the back. The boy took off running to get away and wound up at a nearby Subway restaurant, where his mom and aunt both work. He ran about a mile and a half.
"He ran all the way here," said Bankhead. "He stumbled through that door, crying and exhausted. He barely made it through."
The boy's family notified the sheriff's office, and deputies did search the area but they never located the men.
The men were described as being white and between 35 and 40 years old. One of them had a long beard. The boy's aunt said one of the men had a lot of rings on his fingers and the other had a tattoo of a cross on the inside of his bicep.
The men were traveling in a newer model sliver car with black trim.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 936-760-5876.
The boy attends a school in the Conroe ISD. The school district wants parents to be aware and suggest students stay in a group, stay in well-lit areas and to report all incidents to the police.
