HOUSTON -

A Houston father went from celebrating Father's Day with one child to celebrating with five.

Abby, Allie, Corbin and Carson were born April 20 to Ashley Martin and her husband, Larry.

The two gorgeous girls and two beautiful boys round out their family of now seven.

Larry Martin recalled when he first heard he was having quadruplets thinking, "Wow! Four! What do we do next?"

Almost a year after their daughter, Ella, was born, Larry and Ashley were having trouble conceiving, so they underwent fertility treatment. Three months later, the doctor told them it was a success -- quadrupled!

At the time, Ashley Martin said it was "Shocking! I actually don't remember much of it because I was so shocked."

Just 21 weeks into pregnancy, Ashley had to be put on bed rest at the Texas Children's Pavilion for Women, which is nearly an hour from the family's Mont Belvieu home.

Larry Martin had to forge ahead in her absence, working, taking care of Ella and making those long trips back and forth to visit mommy.

Larry Martin said, "I would get off work at 4 p.m., pick Ella up and we would come here to the hospital, spend two to three hours, get home, go to bed and get up and do it all over again the next day."

Ashley Martin added, "Basically, he became a single dad and never complained one time about doing it."

For Ashley Martin, her husband is a super dad.

"All of my friends are jealous of me for having him," she said. "When I was pregnant, on bed rest, he cooked and cleaned. He brought me food."

Larry Martin shrugs off the title, simply grateful for the greatest Father's Day gift any dad could ask for, which he said was, "Having all five of my babies healthy and happy."

The four Martin babies are the third set of quadruplets born at the TCH Pavilion for Women since it opened just three months ago.

The quads could begin heading home in the next week or so.
