BOCA RATON, Fla. -

A laser procedure eliminates redness resulting from rosacea and spider veins in just one treatment.

Years of too much fun in the South Florida sun left Karyn Premock with a common facial skin problem.

"When I turned 50, I was like, 'Oh my gosh, veins,'" said Premock.

Dr. Jacob Steiger, a plastic surgeon in Boca Raton, Fla., said facial redness and broken blood vessels can be a result of a skin condition called rosacea.

"It's still somewhat of a scientific dilemma as to exactly what is causing rosacea," said Steiger. "We know that it's common in certain cultures more than others, but it affects many people and many people are looking for a treatment for it."

To eliminate redness, Steiger is using a device called the Excel V Laser. The device delivers more energy than others, accomplishing in one treatment what it may take in five.

"It feels like a rubber band snapping up against your skin, then when it's finished, it burns for, I'm going to say 10 to 15 minutes, that it, and goes away," said Premock.

The laser can also target post-surgical bruising.

"You see it right in front of your eyes. It just wipes out the bruise and you don't see that with the IPL and pulse dye lasers," said Steiger.

Premock is so happy with the results that for the first time in years, she said she feels confident enough to leave the house without wearing makeup.

Because injections or topical anesthesia aren't necessary, treatment takes between 30 minutes. Laser sessions range in price from $200 to $400 depending on the size of the area being treated.
