LIBERTY, Texas -

Jury selection has begun in the first trial stemming from the alleged repeated sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in Southeast Texas by a group of 20 males.

One of the men charged in the case, Eric McGowen, will go on trial after the completion of jury selection, which started Monday. It wasn't immediately clear when the trial would begin.

McGowen, among 14 adults charged in the case, faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Two other adults and six juveniles have pleaded guilty. One adult was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Authorities say the girl was assaulted on at least five occasions over a three-month period in 2010 in Cleveland, about 45 miles northeast of Houston.
