Service Employees International Union officials voted unanimously to approve a proposed, four-year labor agreement that will increase janitors' wages by 12 percent.
Now janitors will make $9.35 an hour over four years.
In June, more than 3,000 Houston janitors voted to go on strike. The SEIU said there had been little progress in negotiations toward a new contract with contractors cleaning the offices for companies like Chevron, Exxon Mobile, Shell and Reliant.
The Union said the janitors earned less than $9,000 a year.
