HOUSTON -

Residents in a northwest Harris County neighborhood were shocked Monday when deputies began searching their neighborhood.

Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said they chased three men suspected of burglarizing a home.

The car chase ended when the driver crashed on Edgewood Place near Valiant Woods, investigators said.

All three men inside the car bailed out, deputy constables said. One of them was captured in a sandbox with the help of a K-9, officials said.

"When the officers entered the back yard, he was trying to hide himself under some sand in a sandbox," Assistant Chief Mark Herman said.

Two other men got away, but one of them was captured several hours later. A description of the third man was not released.

"This is a very sensitive situation out here," Herman said. "These guys are presumed to be armed because we can't find the gun that was taken out of the house."

Area residents said the search made their daily routines difficult.

"I just went to the store," one resident said. "When I came back, I couldn't get back to my house."

Investigators have not said where the home burglary occurred, but they said guns and electronics were stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
