Investigators: Ex-girlfriend set man's house on fire

The ex-girlfriend of a Pasadena man has been accused of setting his house on fire.

Gennifer Simmons has been charged with arson of a habitation.

On Sunday, just before 7 p.m., Pasadena firefighters went to a house fire in the 1400 block of Middle Park Street.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the house, investigators said.

Witnesses said they saw a woman leave the scene right before the fire, investigators said.

The fire had been intentionally set in one of the back bedrooms, investigators said.

Simmons was arrested a short time later.
