HOUSTON -

The day before Apple releases the highly anticipated iPhone 5, several people were lined up and ready to camp out to get their hands on what some are calling the hottest gadget of the year.

People started lining up Thursday morning at the Highland Village Apple Store on Westheimer Road.

Eleven people were in line at 6:30 p.m., basically living on the street outside of the store so they could secure their place in line and have a better chance of snagging the fastest and thinnest iPhone yet.

Pre-orders for the phone started last week, but those who didn't pre-order will have to brave the lines.
