HOUSTON -

It may not be a drought-ending rain, but the 1 to 2 inches in the current forecast sure would be a welcome change to our typical dry weather.

A potent low pressure system will work from the west coast to Texas over the next couple of days, bringing very likely rain chances starting Tuesday afternoon. The rain will continue, off and on, through Wednesday night and possibly early Thursday morning.

Sunday's rain was nice relief, too, but it only added up to a half-inch or less in most places because it was a short-lived event.

The mid-week rain won't likely produce heavy downpours, gusty wind and frequent lightning like Sunday's storms did. Rather, it'll be lighter but it will last much longer. It's the kind of rain that is most beneficial in a drought situation because it is able to soak into the ground instead of running off into drains, storm basins and bayous.
