HOUSTON -

A Houston police officer fired twice at a suspect running away after police said he pointed a gun at a patrol officer.

Police said an undercover officer noticed a man arguing with a woman at Westpark near Gessner in southwest Houston about 5 p.m.

Police said the undercover officer saw the man pull a gun on the woman, so he called for a patrol officer.

When the officer arrived, police said the man ran away and through a nearby apartment complex. After ordering the man to stop several times, the man pointed his gun at the officer chasing him, police said.

That's when police said the officer drew his own gun and fired at the man. He missed, but caught up to the man a short while later and he again refused orders to drop his weapon, officials said.

Police said the officer fired at the man again, missing him once more.

The man was eventually arrested.
