A Houston police officer crashed into a light pole while trying to avoid a rear-end collision in northeast Houston.
Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, an officer driving west on Parker Road saw and heard a car approaching rapidly from behind as he neared Cheeves Drive.
Fearing he would be hit, the officer said he evaded the possible collision by driving up onto the curb. He struck a metal street light, knocking it down.
According to reports, the officer was not injured in the crash.
Police said the other driver kept going. Police searched for the car but did not find it.
