A mother who abandoned her five Houston children while she was out on a date has been deported after pleading guilty to a felony, Local 2 Investigates reported Thursday.

Dora Rodriguez, now 25, was living in the Acres Homes area in July when her kids were found alone between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The kids were ages 1, 2, 4, 8 and 9 years old.

When Local 2 Investigates arrived in August to report on her arrest, three of the children were found alone yet again in her apartment.

A 10-year-old told a reporter she had been left in charge of Rodriguez' 1-, 2-, and 4-year old children.

The Local 2 Investigates crew contacted police out of concerns for the children's safety, prompting police and Child Protective Services caseworkers to respond, taking emergency custody of the three youngest children.

The older children had already been taken by their father after the arrest, and police said a neighbor was supposed to be caring for the youngest kids after their mom's arrest.

Police said that neighbor had left to get a tire replaced.  She declined to answer a reporter's questions when she returned to find police at the apartment yet again.

CPS said Thursday that the three kids were placed with a family friend, and the mother has been deported.

She pleaded guilty to the felony abandoning charge and was sentenced to 180 days in jail.

She was deported after serving 81 days.

No new charges were filed for the second event where 3 of her kids were found alone in her apartment.
