HOUSTON -

Families in Wisconsin are mourning the loss of loved ones killed in a deadly Sikh shooting, while in Houston, many local Sikhs expressed sadness and concerns for their safety.

"It's really sad because no religion teaches such kind of hate crimes," Houston Sikh Sukhwindersingh Cheema said.

He and other Sikhs gathered Sunday at the Gurdwara Sahib in southwest Houston.

Members of the Temple also urged peace and for people not to jump to conclusions

"These crazy people don't look for religion or race or for color or anything," said Cheema.

Members said they hoped and prayed that nothing like the tragedy in Wisconsin happens in Houston.

On Sunday morning, a gunmen opened fire at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in the suburb of Oak Creek.  The gunmen shot members as they got ready for a service.  In all, seven people were killed, including the gunman who was shot by a police officer.  Three others were wounded.
