A Houston Dynamo player and one of the team's draft picks were arrested at a Houston bar.
Backup goalie Tyler Deric, 23, and recent draft pick Warren Creavalle, 21, were arrested on Saturday night at the Roosevelt Lounge on Washington. Deric has been charged with assault on a police officer and Creavalle has been charged with misdemeanor interference.
An HPD spokesman said the men were not allowed in the club and after an argument broke out, they returned with a larger group of people. The officer said the suspects got into an argument and scuffle with two off-duty HPD officers working security at the club.
Deric's attorney, Allen Tanner said his client told him he and his friends weren't allowed in the club because they were African-American and that officers used a Taser on him.
"The Houston Dynamo organization is aware of the recent matter involving Tyler Deric," a team representative wrote in a statement. "We take these issues extremely seriously. This is an ongoing legal matter, so we will reserve further comment at this time. We will continue to monitor the developments closely."
